[Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs] Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded grants totaling $690,088 to support a nonprofit agency that provides aid specifically for Hispanic immigrant victims of crime in Blount, Chilton, Jefferson and Shelby counties.The grants will help the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama to continue providing comprehensive case management, safety planning, crisis support groups and advocacy for victims. The organization also conducts educational sessions for service providers and law enforcement officers to help them overcome barriers that may be present when assisting Hispanic victims.
